The Passage

what it is

Will I say what I know?

its phraseWhat you finally said out loud was what you always knew.

the panel’s promiseI speak what is given to be spoken. The throat clears in the speaking.

the pair

Svadhisthana. Desire and expression — the two forms of the same movement. What Svadhisthana holds as longing, Vishuddha gives form to in language. The sacral is the wanting; the throat is the naming. Both are the same force at different registers: the creative movement of consciousness seeking to make itself known.

the reflection

I have spoken now. Not everything. Some things are still ripening. That is also correct. The practice is not saying every true thing at once. The practice is no longer lying about the small things.

The lying I was doing — I see it now. It was structural. It was protecting something. It was protecting the part of me that wasn't yet sure it could survive being seen truly. The lying was kind, in its way. The lying was the part of me that was not yet brave enough holding the part of me that was already true. Both were me. Both have a place.

But the lying is not what I am anymore. I have spoken once truly, and the speaking did not destroy me. It changed me. It changed the room. It will change everything it touches now. The truth that is in me wants out — and the wanting-out has reached the threshold where the speaking has more weight than the holding.

I have a voice. The voice is mine. The voice is also — not only mine. There is something underneath the voice that has been waiting to come through. The voice is the channel. What comes through is bigger than me. The voice is how the bigger thing arrives in the room.

I am quieter, now that I have spoken. The next thing wants me to be quieter still. The voice is going to need to step back, for what comes next. The seeing is going to begin. And the seeing requires the voice to rest.

I'm about to stop looking.
