Dzogchen: Resting in Awareness

A practice card

A very gentle taste of Dzogchen, the Great Perfection — resting in awareness itself, held here exactly as the tradition holds it.

When
When you want to rest, for a moment, without doing anything to your mind at all.
How
Sit, and let your attention settle without aiming it anywhere. Don’t follow a thought, and don’t push one away. Don’t try to make the mind calm or empty — just notice that awareness is already here, plainly, before you do anything to it. Rest in that noticing, effortlessly, for as long as it holds.
Try it
Nothing you type is kept. It floats off the page.
Traditionally received
Dzogchen is traditionally received directly from a qualified teacher, through what’s called “pointing-out” instruction. This page offers only the outer gesture of resting in awareness — a taste, not the transmission itself.
The tradition says awareness was never elsewhere.
The tradition calls this effortless. Here it is only a moment of not interfering.
