Three of its seven laws

Each of the seven is there because an earlier system died without it, and where a design decision disagrees with a law, the law wins. The other four — never a number that means you’re behind, never a message written for you, silence as a full reach, empty days left silent — are on its guide page.

2 · one gesture to captureNothing is asked beyond the smallest gesture. A Carry — the thing to bring up next time you connect with someone — is a few words: no date, no note, no category. A reflection is spoken, and done. Where it goes is suggested, never demanded, and every field after the first is optional, always. The test for any screen: what does it take to finish? If more than one thing, cut. An earlier design asked for a voice memo or a note just to add one activity, and the requirement ended it before it was ever built.

3 · the Mirror never touches a profileThe shadow work has a room of its own. A person may be the occasion for what surfaced, but the record is never about them and never shown on them — because a reflection will be projected outward onto someone who did nothing, and a profile card is somewhere to put it.

7 · the Return asks onceIt asks how a reach went only when the reach left the app; a silent reach needs no follow-up. Left unanswered, the question lets go rather than queueing.
