The Pull
The pull that is smarter than the plan.
The in-breath of the mind — where excitement precedes effort
What is exciting you right now, underneath the noise?

उत्साह — Utsaha — enthusiasm. The power that surges upward.

Ut means upward. Saha means the power to be, the fundamental force of existence. Utsaha is the existence-force moving upward — the surge that happens when consciousness encounters something that resonates with its own nature. This is not mild interest. It is the energetic response of a system recognizing its direction.

Delight is how this register announces itself. The specific quality that makes time pass without effort, that produces the feeling of being exactly where you should be, that generates energy rather than consuming it. When the walker notices what genuinely lights them up — not aspirationally, actually — they are reading the Utsaha signal. The signal is information about where the energy concentrates.

Modini — the delighting one, third Vagdevi of the seventh avarana — presides here. Her name means the one who radiates joy. She knows which direction the energy goes before the analysis does. She operates through the specific appetites of each configuration — the subjects that naturally produce engagement, the activities the walker returns to even without reward, the directions that pull rather than push. Modini’s teaching: follow the delight. The delight knows something the analysis doesn’t.

In the child’s discovery sequence, Utsaha is position two: the second thing the natural mind discovers, immediately after Sahaja. The child who knows things without being taught naturally orients toward what delights them next. This sequence is not accidental. Sahaja opens the knowing. Utsaha opens the direction.

The Rahasya Mudra’s secret at Inspiration: the pull toward delight is smarter than the plan. What lights the configuration up is information about the configuration’s nature — not the conditioning’s nature, the configuration’s own specific shape. Each configuration is different in what it finds delightful. This specificity is not arbitrary. It is the field’s way of directing each configuration toward the particular work it is here to do.

The walker who arrives at Inspiration is ready to be honest about what actually pulls them — not what should. The training classified this as irresponsible. The register names it differently: the pull is the instruction. Not the only instruction — but the first one, the orienting one.

Follow what lights you up. The work is in that direction.

“Your excitement is not a distraction. It is the instruction.”
The Frequency

Notice what is pulling at you right now. Not the thought of the pull — the pull itself. Don’t redirect it. Let it move. The movement is the instruction.

In the Shree Yantra

8 Triangles (Vāgdevī) Modini — Vagdevi #3

The delighting one — 3rd Vagdevi of the 7th avarana. Modini is the Shakti of joy in expression. Inspiration arrives through delight, not through effort. The door you forgot to guard is always joy — it enters without permission because it never needed to ask. Whatever delights is the operating instruction.

Rahasya Mudra — the secret that delight knows and difficulty doesn't

The Pair

Invention. The pull that begins and the room where two things meet. Utsaha follows what lights up — it enters the field before knowing what it will find. Yukti combines what the following has gathered — it makes the new thing by introducing what the pull collected. The energy that pulls in Inspiration becomes the intelligence that assembles in Invention. Both move toward rather than away — one toward the source, one toward the creation.

The Tree

The Maya Tree’s branches bend toward light. Not one light — every light. Each branch has its own direction. The tree has learned which way the warmth comes from. This learning is not intellect. It is the oldest intelligence the tree has.

From the Codex

Inspiration arrives through joy, not through trying. Modini delights. The practice: find the delight in this first, before finding the method. Follow the highest vibrational excitement — this is Inspiration's operating system. The door you forgot to guard.

The Practice · BREATHE IN

You named something.

The thing you’ve been calling a distraction has a quality to it. It pulls. It doesn’t push — it pulls. Distraction pushes you away from something. The pull takes you toward something.

These are not the same operation.

What pulls is information about where the energy is. This is the register that names it: the pull is the instruction.

Not every pull is this. Some pulls are avoidance. You know the difference because avoidance doesn’t light you up — it only temporarily relieves the discomfort of facing something else.

The thing you wrote about lights you up. That’s the distinction. The lighting up is Utsaha. And Utsaha knows something about where to go that analysis cannot determine in advance.

Right now — not later — what is pulling at you? Don’t think about it. Feel the direction of it. When you can feel the pull — tap.
What’s been pulling at you that you’ve been calling a distraction?

What you called a distraction is the signal.

What Inspiration Knows That You Forgot

The pull you’ve been calling a distraction is the most accurate information available to you.

Not the information about what’s practical. Not the information about what makes sense given your current situation. The information about where the energy actually is. Energy is not evenly distributed across possibilities. It concentrates in specific directions. The pull is how your system reports where the concentration is.

Everything in your upbringing probably taught you to redirect this. To manage the excitement. To wait until the impulse passed. The distinction between genuine interest and distraction is real — but you have learned it so well that you now apply it to everything, including the genuine pulls that were never distractions.

What you named today is not a distraction from your life. It is a direction within it. The direction preceded the analysis. The analysis will catch up.

Follow the pull. Not instead of everything else. But don’t file it under later anymore. Later never comes for the things that light you up.

Three Ways In

Right now: what subject, if you could spend two hours on it today, would not feel like work? Name it. That pull is Utsaha. Don’t explain why it’s there. Just acknowledge it exists.

Notice today when time moves faster. When you look up from something and an hour has passed. That’s Utsaha operating. The register is active. The delight was doing its work without your permission.

Follow one pull today that you would normally redirect. Not a large one — a small one. The book you’ve been wanting to open. The route you’ve been thinking of taking. The person you keep meaning to message. Follow it.

“Your excitement is not a distraction. It is the instruction.”
The story · Inspiration
Something in you has been pulling toward something. You know which thing.
Underneath

She is the pull itself. In this register, what the walker experiences as excitement and delight is Gaia’s need arising through what this configuration loves. The pull toward delight is not random — it is Gaia assembling the solution through the configuration’s specific appetites. Utsaha is her nature expressed as this mind’s joy.
