Between 1981 and 1984, physicist Don Elkins asked questions of an entity that spoke, through Carla Rueckert in trance, calling itself Ra, while Jim McCarty recorded the sessions. Published as The Law of One, it is offered here as their account — not as settled fact.
Before the rules
The sessions ran to over a hundred transcripts, published as five books called The Law of One, or the Ra Material. Ra described itself as a "social memory complex" originally from Venus, speaking to offer what it called the Law of One: that all apparently separate things are aspects of a single being. Whether that's so, no one can check. What follows is the material's own account.

All things are one being.
Because Ra's account holds that every apparently separate thing is one infinite Creator experiencing itself.
Look at a stranger and test the idea that you're both the same thing, looking out two windows.

Free will comes first.
Because Ra describes free will as the very first distortion of the One — nothing is imposed, even this.
Notice one thing today you're free to see differently than you have been.

Serve others, or serve yourself.
Because Ra's account holds a being polarizes toward one of two paths, opposite in feel but each said to lead somewhere.
Before helping someone today, notice honestly why you're doing it.

Every experience is catalyst.
Because Ra calls each difficulty catalyst — material a being can use to grow, whether or not it does.
Take one frustration today and ask only what it's handing you to work with.

Growth moves through stages called densities.
Because Ra's account describes consciousness advancing through densities, each a deeper degree of unity understood.
Remember that today isn't an ending — only a stage, in the account's own terms.
The practice
Pick one idea above and hold it loosely for a day, as Ra's account rather than fact, and notice what it changes about how you treat one interaction.
Whether Ra was what it said, no one can check. What's left is the account, and what you do with it.
