In the tantric system, manipura is the third chakra, placed at the navel and linked to fire. Traditionally pictured as a ten-petaled lotus, it's held as the body's center of transformation and will. The tradition holds this as its own map of subtle anatomy, not a claim about measurable physiology.
Why this is hard
Tantric texts place manipura — 'city of jewels' — at the navel, the third of the system's main centers, and give it the element of fire. It's traditionally drawn as a lotus with ten petals, each carrying its own quality. The tradition holds it as a seat of inner heat, digestion, and will in a subtle, symbolic sense — not a physiological claim.
