Taking Care of Your Body

A practice card

Not a checklist to complete. A short set of principles, rest, movement, food, connection, that tend to hold up whichever one gets attention first.

When
When there's a vague sense of needing to take better care of yourself but no clear place to start.
What's actually happening
The body's systems overlap: poor sleep affects appetite and mood, low movement affects sleep, and stress touches all three. Because of that overlap, improving almost any one of these areas tends to support the others somewhat, which is part of why starting anywhere beats waiting to start everywhere at once.
What to change
Pick a single sleep habit, a steady wake time or a wound-down evening, rather than trying to fix sleep all at once.
Build in some form of movement most days, walking counts, rather than waiting for a structured workout.
Add one thing to a meal that's closer to how food naturally comes, rather than overhauling how you eat.
Stay in regular touch with at least one person, since isolation tends to undo progress made elsewhere.
Choose a single area, sleep, movement, food, or connection, rather than trying to change all of them together.

roughly placed · choosing one area beats changing everything

Pick one
Five at once is how these lists fail. Tap a number — the ones up and to the left give the most for the least.
What to expect
None of this compounds quickly — the return is in the steadiness, not any single choice. Pick one principle here and hold it for two weeks before adding a second one.
choose one, and the fortnight starts

This is a teaching, not treatment. If you’re struggling, a doctor or therapist can help. If you’re in danger right now, call your local emergency number or a crisis line (in the US, call or text 988).
