A Sensory Soothing Kit

A practice card

A small collection of things, one for each sense, gathered ahead of time — so comfort is at hand before you need it.

When
Before you need it. Then reach for it when you're overwhelmed, anxious, or touched out.
Gather by sense
1 something to see
1 something to touch
1 something to smell
1 something to hear
1 something to taste
Keep it small — a pouch or box works.
Why it works
Having something ready to see, touch, smell, hear, and taste means you don't have to think clearly to reach for comfort — the kit does that thinking in advance. In a hard moment, one sense engaged is often enough to help attention land somewhere other than the spiral.
Comfort, already gathered.
Keep the kit somewhere you'll actually find it — a bag, a drawer, a desk.

This is a teaching, not treatment. If you’re struggling, a doctor or therapist can help. If you’re in danger right now, call your local emergency number or a crisis line (in the US, call or text 988).
